1931. This course was designed by James Braid (1870-1950). James Braid was a professional golfer and a member of the "Great Triumvirate" of golf alongside Harry Vardon and John H. Taylor. He won the Open Championship five times between 1901 & 1910. On retiring from tournament golf he became a club professional at Walton Heath. This also gave him the opportunity to concentrate on course design and become a renowned golf course architect. He is regarded by many as the 'inventor' of the dog-leg.
