The Market House This building was erected in 1772. In 1932 the original arcades were replaced by the present wings and the building reconditioned. On the 27th September 1932 it was reopened by the Mayor of Taunton, Councillor W.E. Maynard, J.P.

This Market House and Arcades (erected in 1772 by the Taunton Market Trustees under statutory powers) were handed over by the said trustees to the Taunton Corporation on the 1st October 1926. Together with the Parade, Victoria Rooms, covered markets, Corn Exchange and other valuable properties
