Flint's Yard is named after James Flint a mid-19th century iron-founder. In the early-19th century it was called Bradwell Place form his predecessor Joseph Bradwell. They owned the plot through to Frenchgate past Flint's Terrace. Some cast-iron kitchen ranges and fire-grates by both Bradwell and Flint remain in the Richmond area.
