Piazza Nuova Oggi intitolata a Lorezno Mascheroni, insigne matematico e letterato, assunse la forma attuale nel 1520, quando venne destinata al mercato di granaglie e biade. Fu chiamata Piazza Nuova per distinguerla dall più celebre Piazza Vecchia già aperta da quasi un secolo nel centro della Città. Sul lato sud è il settecentesco Palazzo Roncalli. Nel corso del restauro eseguito nel 1983, si scopri che nella facciata era stato inglobato il fronte della Loggia dei Mercanti, realizzata su progetto di Andrea Ziliolo nel 1520.
English translation: New square Now named after Lorezno Mascheroni, a distinguished mathematician and scholar, it took its present shape in 1520, when it was destined to the market of grain and fodder. It was called New Square to distinguish it from the most famous Piazza Vecchia already open for nearly a century in the center of the City. On the south side is the eighteenth century Palazzo Roncalli. During the restoration carried out in 1983, it was discovered that the facade had been incorporated into the front of the Loggia dei Mercanti, built to a design by Andrea Ziliolo in 1520.
