Captain Ed Parker, born in 1912, was one of the early founders of the seafood industry, of primary importance to the city of Parker. Orphaned at the age of eight, he eventually became captain of a fishing boat, The Friendship. He was also an environmentalist. He was a powerful role model for the hundreds of men who served as deckhands on his boat. Captain Ed Parker died in 1999.
