Plaid Cymru (English: /ˌplaɪd ˈkʌmri/ PLYDE KUM-ree; Welsh: [plaid ˈkəmri]; officially Plaid Cymru – the Party of Wales, often referred to simply as Plaid) is a centre-left to left-wing, Welsh nationalist political party in Wales, committed to Welsh independence from the United Kingdom. Plaid was formed in 1925 and won its first seat in the UK Parliament in 1966. The party holds four of 40 Welsh seats in the UK Parliament, 13 of 60 seats in the Senedd, and 203 of 1,231 principal local authority councillors. It is a member of the European Free Alliance.

Dadorchuddiwyd y llechen hom gan Dafydd Wigley AC AS ar 29 Gorffennaf 200 i goffau sefydlu Plaid Genedlaethol Cymru mewn cyfarfod yn yr adeilad hwn 75 mlynedd ynghynt. Y chwe dyn yn y cyfarfod hwnnw oedd Moses Griffith, Fred Jones, H. R. Jones, Saunders Lewis, Lewis Valentine, D. Edmund Williams. This plaque was unveiled by Dafydd Wigley AM MP on July 29 200 to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Welsh Nationalist Party at a meeting in this building. The six men present at that meeting were Moses Griffith, Fred Jones, H. R. Jones, Saunders Lewis, Lewis Valentine, D. Edmund Williams
