Walter Richard Parker, VC (20 September 1881 – 28 November 1936) was a British ironworker, Royal Marine, and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Lance Corporal Walter Parker VC 1881-1936. Walter Parker was born near here at 5 Agnes Street. During the Gallipoli Campaign he was awarded the Victoria Cross. In charge of a party of stretcher bearers he braved heavy machine-gun fire, and despite being seriously injured, helped to save his wounded comrades.
