Former Lyric Picture Theatre. This, the first purpose-built picture theatre in Brunswick and the first north of the Yarra, was built in 1911. There was a modern dance hall upstairs which became well-known as Roses. In 1931 the Lyric was converted to a boxing stadium and from 1935 until 1942 it was the Casino Dance Hall operated by Cyril Bright, a former Brunswick footballer. 2001
