Bills Horse Trough. This Gorge and Annis Bills horse trough was obtained by the Kilmore Shire Council in 1935 and was first located in front of the Kilmore Town Hall until the 1970s. The trough was later located in front of Lowdens Saddlery at 82 Sydney Street. George Bills, a wire mattress manufacturer, died on 14 December 1927 at Hawthorn. His will provided funds "for the construction of horse troughs for the relief of horses or other dumb animals, with in Australasia, in the British Isles, or in any other part of the world." George and his wife Annis were keen supporters and contributors to animal welfare societies.
