Ove Joensen (3 December 1948 – 26 November 1987) was a Faroese seaman and adventurer, the first to row from the Faroe Islands to Denmark.

This plaque has been erected in memory of Ove Joensen who drowned at the Faroes in November 1987. Ove rowed his boat "Diana Victoria" from Torshaven to Copenhagen in 1986. On two previous attempts he was towed in by Aith life boat the John & Francis MacFarlane when he made many friends in Shetland
