Charles Avery (May 28, 1873 – July 23, 1926) was an American silent-film actor, film director, and screenwriter. One of the original seven Keystone Kops, Avery directed Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle in thirty-one comedies while at Keystone Studios.

Avery College. To the south, at Nash and Avery Streets, stood Avery College. Founded in 1849 by Charles Avery (1784-1858), Methodist lay preacher, philanthropist, abolitionist, to provide a classical education for Negroes.
