Site where ships used to moor in Dartmouth from at least 1620. But by 1876 it was a public nuisance, so the Town Council filled it in to reclaim New Ground. Now a car park and Royal Avenue Gardens, with a Visitor Centre.

The Pool filled in by the Town Council 1876-7. 50,680 feet added to the New Ground and a Public nuisance removed.
