Al legendario árbol de Reding, a tantos de septiembre, en madrugada, un llanto quejumbroso se le ha oído, tras sufrir con efectos de guadaña un hiriente relámpago a cuchillo Y así quedó, "hendido por un rayo y en su mitad partido" hasta el vecino mar en duermevela, arrebatadas olas con sigilo, rumoreó tan lastimosa merma de frondosos derechos adquiridos. Si cayeras del todo, caro amigo, ya no sería el mismo este lugar, ni la histórica fuente, ahí cercana brindaría el relato decisivo que irradia tu presencia natural, a tanto pasajero seducido. Pero vives, existes... Y antes que te derribe el propio tiempo, para ser solo leña en el olvido, quiero admirar, soñando en mis certezas, la fuerza de tus ramas malheridas.
