Dr. Alfred Cox O.B.E. (1866-1954) GP, surgeon and JP. Co-founder of the Gateshead Queen Victoria Nursing Association. Medical Secretary of the BMA 1912-31. Awarded the Gold Medal of the BMA in 1931. Lived here.
