Haringey Council runs its own historical plaques scheme to enable us to more easily commemorate notable or famous local former residents. Haringey’s Green Plaques Scheme is similar to the Blue Plaques Scheme run by English Heritage.Green Plaques provide posterity for Haringey’s famous people and knowledge for local residents or anyone with a historical interest in this part of London. The idea for a local plaques scheme came from the Muswell Hill and Fortis Green Association, who provided support in setting the Scheme up in 2005. The first plaque was unveiled on 3rd October 2007.
