The High Street or 'High Causeway' was built after the bridging of the Allan Water in the early 15th Century. Until 1700 most of the houses were single storied and thatched with long narrow plots of ground laid out in medieval times. The present buildings date mainly from the late 18th and 19th Centuries.

Nos 16-22 High Street This group of buildings is typical of the 17th and 18th Century domestic properties that would have fronted the High Causeway or High Street before the Victorian era of rebuilding. The roofs would probably have bee thatched.

Historic Dunblane This was the first Modern Building to be erected in the High Street in 1884. Previously this was a narrow lane of single storied thatched cottages on either side, known as the High Causeway
