George Reed (1805-1869) Site of his family home. George Reed was one of Burham's greatest benefactors in Victorian times. He bought the land we know today as Manor Gardens and built a house here in 1841; he employed people who tended his gardens and the hot houses here where he grew orchids. He died at home here on 22nd June 1869.
