The original Thelwall Viaduct was officially opened on 29th of July 1963 by the RT Hon Ernest Marples MP Minister of Transport The viaduct was renovated and extensively modified to become the northbound carriageway of the widened M6 Motorway Reopened to traffic 23 December 1996
