The Southwick Aeroplane Tragedy. On May 24th 1917 a Royal Flying Corps biplane crashed into the Co-op building at the west end of Southwick Green and fell onto the crowd below who were attending a food economy meeting. Five Suddickers were killed and this plaque is dedicated to their memory. Robert Spargo, age 11 John Connolly, age 29 George Davison, age 47 Elizabeth Curry, age 49 John Thompson, age 80
