Berwick Fortifications, Sandgate. The medieval town wall was built on a line laid down by Edward I in 1296. Other parts of the defences were completely remodelled in the 16th century.

Berwick Fortifications, Scots Gate. The Elizabethan ramparts were built 1558-1570 replacing the medieval wall on the north and east sides of the town.
