Christ's Hospital is a public school (English independent boarding school for pupils aged 11–18) with a royal charter located to the south of Horsham in West Sussex. The school was founded in 1552 and received its first royal charter in 1553. Since its establishment, Christ's Hospital has been a charity school, with a core aim to offer children from humble backgrounds the chance of a better education.

Christ's Hospital Which was founded in the year of our Lord 1607 By Peter Symonds a Native of Winchester and afterwards a Mercer in the City of London. The Endowments of this House are applied to the maintenance of Six Old Men. One Matron. and Four Boys; and also to the assistance of one Scholar in each of the Two English Universities. The name of such a Benefactor Is remembered with gratitude by Posterity.
