This plaque commemorates the illegal deportation by German occupying forces of 1003 men, women and children from Guernsey and Sark in September 1942 and February 1943 to captivity in civilian internmentcamps in Germany and France. It remembers the 16 islanders who died there and whose names and ages are listed below. Brian Skipton (4 months), Cecil Norman (8 months), Rex Wearing (3), Henry Le Goupillot (22), Ruth Cockayne (48), Florence Marr (48), Florence Manning (51), Percy Herrington (53), Richard Worth (60), Stanley Jackson (63), Albert Byrch (65), Augustus Dunkley (66), James Waters (68), Cyril Rickard (68), Arthur Petty (68), Ernest Boon (68). Also remembering other islanders who were for other reasons deported and died in labour camps and prisons in Europe.
