The Assembly Rooms. Built in the early 18th century, it was the favoured venue of the local gentry for many social events. Leased to St. Mary's in 1925 it was used extensively as a church hall and meeting place until the 1950's. By 1970 the building had become unsafe and remained so until its conversion into flats in 1997
