John Wren's Tote. 148 (formerly 136) Johnston St, Collingwood was the site of John Wren's tote from 1839 to 1907. The shop, a tobacconist and tea merchant, was a front for illegal gambling which took place in the yard behind. It was used by local people and as often raided by the police. Frank Hardy's novel 'Power Without Glory' is based on John Wren's life.
