Cette église a remplacé les deux églises anciennes de Marly-le-Châtel, située en arrière du présent édifice, et de Marly-le-Bourg, qui avoisinait la place actuelle du chenil. Construite par ordre de Louis XIV et dédiée aux saints Vigor et Étienne, elle a été consacrée le premier avril 1689.
