A white rectangular design was chosen for the site of this plaque to improve legibility. A plaque commemorating Thomas Babington Macaulay at Holly Lodge, Campden Hill, Kensington - his last home - was the first to be erected by the LCC in their capacity as custodians of the London plaque scheme, in 1903, but was removed prior to redevelopment of the site in 2003.
