Here from 1868 to 1909 lived George James Symons FRS pioneer in the scientific study of rainfall, founder of the British rainfall organization, twice president of the Royal Meteorological Society. 1838-1900

This plaque has been temporarily removed for restoration by the owner of the house. April 2021 the restored plaque has been re-erected. The restoration has undoubtedly resulted in a change of colour.
