Dalhousie Land. St John's Street was built in 1768 with a row of tenements on the eastern side. The Earls of Dalhousie lived in number four. In later years number seven was a hostel for students. The present building was opened by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland in 1963. It contained art rooms, a swimming pool, and a large lecture theatre. After major reconstruction Dalhousie was re-opened in 1996 as the Main Library of Moray House Institute of Education. The architects were Lewis and Hickey DJP.
