The Silver Studio, established here in 1880. Arthur Silver (1853-1896), Rex Silver (1879-1965), Harry Silver (1881-1971), designers, lived here.
The plaque was proposed by Middlesex Polytechnic (now University), holders of the Silver Studio's archive. The plaque itself was, rather splendidly, made at the Polytechnic's own Ceramics Department by Neal French, and was unveiled in January 1981 at a ceremony coinciding with the Silver Studio Centenary Exhibition then being held at the Museum of London.
