Henryton School of Practical Nursing. In 1925, two years after the Maryland tuberculosis sanatorium opened in Henryton, a training school for nurses was established for black students in order to help manage the increasing patient population. The program was revised in 1945 to meet licensing standards and opened as the Henryton School of Practical Nursing. A nurses' home constructed in 1952 also housed laboratories, lecture rooms and a library. The school closed in 1963.
