Professor Robert Newstead (1859 - 1947) Naturalist & Archaeologist First Curator of the Grosvenor Museum, and then Professor of Entomology at Liverpool University. He led excavations in Chester for thirty years, including the Roman barracks on Deanery Field and the Amphitheatre.
