Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park This park which was opened in July 1934 was formerly the grounds of Bethlem Hospital - the land was bought by Lord Rothermere who presented it to the London County Council to be laid out as a park and named in memory of his mother

Originally erected in 1934, the plaque was believed lost until rediscovered, having been stored in the park lodge. It was restored and re-erected for the park's 75th anniversary in 2009. https://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/4009. The 'Bethlem Hospital' in this context is the New Bethlem Hospital, built to replace the previous hospital in Moorfields in the City of London, between 1812 and 1815. When the hospital moved to the suburbs of Croydon in 1930, the central building was retained and became the Imperial War Museum in 1936.
