General Daniel Morgan (1736-1802) Her of the Battle of Cowpens during the American Revolution. Bourke County Patriot Militia fought alongside Morgan, a Virginian. In 1784 the Town of Morgansborough was established in his honor. The name was changed to Morganton in 1838.
