English translation: "This Almshouse, first built by the generosity of John Hosyer the Preacher in the year of Salvation, 1486, having been damaged by the injuries of time, was given and restored; To the glory of God the Most Great, and to the memory of the Pious Founder; And to the more comfortable reception of the Poor; From the very foundations, at their own expense, they have raised, enlarged, and adorned.
