William Weller is notable because a rare 'white feather' that was sent to him anonymously was discovered in Wolverhampton's archives. The feather was sent along with an anonymous letter to William Weller, who was an architect in the city, during the latter years of World War I. Weller was in his 40s when the letter was sent and had been excused from service on medical grounds.White feathers were sent during wartime to individuals regarded as having dodged call up to the army.src = http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-15684022
