Brian Wilde blue plaque

Brian Wilde 1927-2008 born in Ashton-under-Lyne and lived here at 43 Montague Road during his early childhood. Best known for his BBC Television role as Prison Officer Barrowclough in 'Porridge' and Corporal Walter 'Foggy' Dewhurst in 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Trained at RADA, his career encompassed stage, radio, film and television for over half a century.
