Buckswood in early Roman Britain was an iron-working site; in the middle ages a hunting area. A farmstead existed here c. 1495, when the oldest part of this cottage was built. It was enlarged twice, c. 1520-30 and 1575-80. Little Buckswood farm was built on in 1964 with the growth of Crawley New Town
