Mansfield Railway Station. Opened by the Midland Railway in 1872, this was the Railway's third station in the town. The Mansfield & Pinxton Tramway opened in 1819, first carrying passengers in 1832. Taken over by the Midland Railway in 1847, a new station was opened on extension of the line through the Erewash Valley in 1849. Replaced in turn by the present station with the opening of the line to Shirebrook in 1872. Closed to passengers in 1964. Restored and returned to railway use in 2000. The building is listed Grade II.
