Gregory Roland. Convicted 24 November 1316 Harvest failure had caused widespread hunger when young Gregory Roland was found guilty of stealing a bushel of wheat in Langtoft, near Market Deeping. Stealing goods worth a shilling or more was punishable by death during the medieval times. Being less than 12 years old, he couldn't be hanged, so he was sent to Lincoln Castle gaol.
