Hôtel Gautier du Poët A cet emplacement existant un moulin à eau, hors les murs jusqu'en 1656, qui fournissait en farine les boulangers d'Aix. L'hôtel fut construit en 1730 pour Henri Gautier, roturier, clerc de notaire avisé, enrichi par sa charge de Trésorier des Etats de Provence. Il fut anobli en 1724 par l'achat des terres de Vernègues et de celles du Poët près de Sisteron. L'imposant édifice, entièrement décoré, s'élance en bauteur par ses chaînages à refends dans les angles. Il ferme le Cours Mirabeau par sa façade proposant des visages tous différents. Sa porte encadrée de pilastres doriques, est surmontée d'un balcon à l'élegante ferronnerie Louis XV, que soutiennent deux consoles à têtes de lions.

English translation: Hotel Gautier du Poët In this existing location a water mill, outside the walls until 1656, which supplied flour to the bakers of Aix. The hotel was built in 1730 for Henri Gautier, a roturier, cleric of a wise notary, enriched by his office as Treasurer of the States of Provence. He was anobliated in 1724 by the purchase of the lands of Vernègues and Poët near Sisteron. The imposing building, entirely decorated, elongates as a bauthor by its chainrings to the angles. It closes the Cours Mirabeau by its facade offering different faces. Its door framed by Doric pilasters, is topped by a balcony with the glitzy Louis XV iron making, supported by two consoles with lion heads. [AWS Translate]
