The 99 steps. These steps on a footpath linking the settlements of Upper and Lower Brailes have been used since, certainly Medieval times. Generations of village children have played around the steps. In 1999 Brailes Footpath Group launched a Sponsor-a-Step Appeal to raise funds to repair them and make them safe. The generous response from the public and a grant from Awards for All allowed work to proceed and the refurbished steps were opened with great ceremony on 3rd January 2000. Our vicar, Nicholas Morgan, gave a blessing and together over 100 people turned out for the event.
