Thomas Arne 1710-1778 composer lived here

The plaque is of a unique design, manufactured to fit the restricted space available on the facade of Arne's former residence. It is based on the standard 495mm (19½ inch) roundel, with the left and right segments omitted. The rumour that the plaque was modified subsequent to manufacture to arrive at this shape is false.
