Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren 1753-1822 born at Stapleford 2nd September 1753. Warren's fleet inflicted a crushing and decisive defeat on Napolean's navy, scattering the enemy squadron consisting of a ship of the line eight frigates and a schooner, Sir John was thanked by both Houses of Parliament for this important victory and was promoted to admiral. Admiral Warren died at Greenwich on 27th February 1822

Plaque was sited on the Derby Road face of The Sir John Borlase Warren PH below left of the road name. It was a substantial size oval and last confirmed in situ in 1983 but had disappeared before July 2008 (Google Street View). Whereabouts unknown.
