Northampton's town and county war memorial to the fallen of the great war (1914-19) was designed by the famous architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, who also designed the cenotaph in Whitehall. It was unveiled by General Lord Horne on 11th November 1926, the eighth anniversary of the armistice. Also commemorated are the dead of the second world war (1939-45).
