Bank House (mid-19th C). The Bank Manager, a respected figure in Victorian society, used to live above the bank in this listed building. The bank met the financial needs of local families and business until 2011.

Burgh Chambers (late-19th C). This block included grocer's shop and post office adjoining the Municipal Buildings and Court for Buckhaven & Methil. Local election results were announced to crowds from the balcony. Buckhaven Museum opened above the library in 1973.

Free Gardeners' Hall. (1890s). This community hall now transforming into the Beehive has been used earlier by Freemasons, as a cinema, a girls' gym, first aid post and Buckhaven & Methil Brass Band's home. Behind is Buckhaven Bowling Club set up 1891.

Buckhaven's School (1907-71). A Madras School and then the first Higher Grade School in Scotland, this was demolished with the closure of the experimental Braehead Secondary. Its replacement had been built in 1957 on Methilhaven Rd.

Buttercup Dairy (1924-45). This branch of the philanthropic Scottish chain sold free-range milk and eggs from the company's nearby farms. The shops were easily recognised by their green-tiles entrances with milkmaid and cow.

The Co-op (1868-1994). Buckhaven Co-operative's first shop still stands in the courtyard behind. It was replaced in 1906 by the grandiose department store which, having merged with other Fife Co-ops, closed its doors in 1994.

Wartime (1940-45). During the Second World War, the playpark and braes were turned into "Dig for Victory" allotments. A large Anderson Shelter stood nearby to protect local residents and workers during air raids.
