Walter Carpenter (1871-1926) Trade unionist, Socialist and Revolutionary lived here. His sons Walter and Peter served with the Irish Citizen Army Members of the GPO garrison, Easter 1916. "I went to Mountjoy Prison with the spirit of revolution in my heart, and I have come out with that spirit intensified to the thousandth degree". Walter Carpenter 1911.
