Melda Buchanan 1924-2004 No environmental challenge was too global nor too insignificant for Melda's boundless energy, be it animal rights, logging, mining or nature conservation. Melda could be counted on to join in on a blockade, attend meetings endlessly, write letters to politicians, and to give generously to any cause. In 1994, the Province awarded Melda the Minister's Environmental Award for her years of conservation work all across British Columbia. A woman of piercing wit and fierce intelligence, she was also a friend of great generosity and warmth. Family and Friends remember her proudly.
