Homestead of John S. and Jane Susanna Lee Brown, 1856. On Spanish land grant. Building materials came by sea from Mobile, Ala., to Anahuac, thence by ox-cart to present site. Lumber was hand-planed; pegs and square nails were used. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1965 #9638
