Skirmish at Rocky Creek Near this site on June 25, 1863, a small group of confederate soldiers and civilians, under the command of Lt. W. M. Wilson of the 43rd Tennessee Infantry, defeated a detachment of the 5th Illinois Cavalry. During the skirmish, the entire 40 man Union force, on a raid to disrupt the railroads, was killed, wounded, or captured.
