La Cathedrale St-Jean. La première église de la paroisse de Lafayette fut "l'Eglise St-Jean du Vermilion". Elle fut élévée en 1821 sur ce site offert par Jean Mouton. En 1824, il fit don d'un terrain pour un tribunal et fonda Vermilionville (Lafayette).
